Nature in my Frame
Wall Gallery
06 Oct - 25 Nov
Join us on October 6, 7pm -9pm for the Opening Reception of David Kay’s photography exhibition “Nature in Frame.”
Nature in My Frame Show Statement:
This show is my personal interpretation of how I see nature in our area of Northwestern Alberta. It includes photographs from Bear Lake, Saskatoon Island Provincial Park, Musreau Lake Provincial Recreation Area, the Natural Area of Keskun Hills, and the landscapes of the greater Peace River region. What captures my attention is the magnificent light on our broad wide landscapes.
Some of this show is of wildlife while kayaking on our lakes and while hiking on the preservednative Parkland and Prairie areas. There is a lot of subtle beauty in the greater Peace Regionarea, and I am out to capture that in my photographs.
Artist biography:
My photography represents how I see our natural environments. I use photography to capture the light, colours, patterns, and contrasts I see in nature. I highly value nature and want to communicate that value through my images. On a personal note, I feel a significant spiritual presence while moving through wilderness areas. I love nature and gain balance in my life partly because of my time in nature.
I’ve worked as an instructor in the Adventure Tourism at Lakeland College (AB) and in Physical Education at Grande Prairie Regional College (AB). Most recently, after teaching and coaching for 31 years, I wrote and taught two online courses in the Sustainable Energy Technology
program at Lakeland College.
My personal interests include cycling, cross-country skiing, hiking, canoeing and sea kayaking. During many outdoor experiences, my photography was an ongoing passion and a personal journey.
