What is Wearable Art?

Wearable art is not fashion. It is art that uses the human form as the canvas. This is more than looking pretty. This is a challenge to the artist to delve into their imaginations and create a wearable piece of art that defies the word fashion. Any and every material and medium is an option for wearable art, from fabric and paper to metal and plastics, paint, glue, feathers… the sky’s the limit!

All submissions must be wearable art on the human form, using any materials to create their pieces, as long as it is wearable.
We are looking for Peace Area artists and students aged 16+ to take part in The Centre for Creative Arts Wearable Arts Show on September 29 to celebrate Alberta Culture Days. The event will consist of a runway show of wearable art, dancers and music.
Interested artists are asked to contact the Centre ASAP to add their contact info to our list. Artists on this list will get regular updates and deadline reminders.
Completed pieces will be juried for inclusion on August 17.
